Tuning In To Soft Rock UK

Click on one of the buttons below and our stream should open automatically in your default media player. If you haven't already got it, we recommend you download Winamp. It's free, it sounds good, it's a darn sight better and less-fiddly than Windows Media Player and far less intrusive than Real Player.

Click the Windows Media button below to open a pop-up window to play our stream using Windows Media player if you are using Internet Explorer to browse the web.
If you have
pop-ups disabled, hold down the CTRL key when clicking the link.
If you are using the
Firefox browser this may not work and you may need to install the Mozilla WMP plug-in. Full details on how to do this can be found at mozillaZine

IMPORTANT: We are broadcasting at 96kbps bitrate to provide the best quality (and affordable!) listening experience. It does mean you need a broadband or equivalent connection. Dial-up users will suffer buffering. Another reason you may not be able to connect to our stream is if you are using a Streamripper program. For more information about this see Streamrippers.

If Winamp fails to open the SRUK stream try clearing your Internet Explorer file cache. To do this click on Tools in the IE menu bar and choose Internet Options. In the middle box on the first tab - Temporary Internet Files - click on the Delete files button.

Technical Note

All the songs you hear during the live broadcasts have been digitally enhanced to be played at 89dB (decibels). Why 89dB?
Because most mp3s will not have clipping at this volume level.
("Clipping" means that when an mp3 file is decoded, some of the sound samples will be too loud. The player will "clip" these samples so that they do not exceed the maximum allowable value. This clipping creates a sort of rough, "scratchy" sound during loud parts of the song.) This means that all songs are set at the optimum volume level which should produce a richer, fuller sound and you should not need to adjust your speaker controls.
